Red Alert Issued in Mumbai as Supply Chains Face Delays
Since yesterday, several cities across Maharashtra — including Mumbai — have been hit by extremely heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert, warning of continued downpours and flooding in low-lying areas.
Impact on Shipping & Logistics
The severe rainfall has caused major disruptions in the shipping and logistics sector, including:
• Container handling delays due to waterlogging
• Restricted vehicle movement on flooded routes
• Labour shortages as workers struggle to commute
• Customs clearance delays causing slower processing
•Vessel connection delays with shipments reaching ports late
These challenges are already affecting delivery schedules across the supply chain.
Our Response
Despite the challenges, we are making every effort to ensure shipments connect to planned vessels as swiftly as possible.
We will continue to provide timely updates as the situation evolves.
