Operational Disruptions in the Middle-East

We would like to inform you about the ongoing developments in the Middle East and the impact these events are having on global air and ocean freight operations.

We are treating this situation with the utmost seriousness. Our teams are closely monitoring developments and are in continuous contact with carriers and partners to ensure we remain fully informed and able to respond quickly to changes.

Broader Market Considerations

Given the current global environment and increasing geopolitical uncertainty, wider market impacts cannot be excluded.

Logistics operations, transit times, capacity availability, and freight rates may be affected beyond the immediate region. Shipments to and from Europe could experience capacity constraints and rate volatility in the coming period.

We are continuously assessing potential implications for our customers and proactively identifying alternative routing and capacity options where needed.

Recommended Actions

To help minimize disruption, we recommend:

– Maintaining flexibility in pick-up and delivery schedules.
– Anticipating extended lead times and potential rerouting.
– Staying in close contact with your BTS Logistics contact for situation-specific updates and solutions.

Below is the current operational overview.

Air Freight Update

– As of 28 February 2026, several Middle Eastern airspaces have been closed, affecting both regional and international flight operations.
– A number of airlines have suspended services across key markets, including Bahrain, Iran, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
– Airspace closures and flight rerouting are creating congestion and reducing available global air freight capacity. This may lead to rate fluctuations.
– Shipment delays and operational backlogs are expected to continue while restrictions remain in place.

Ocean Freight Update

– Ocean freight services to and from the Middle East are currently operating with significant limitations. Some carriers have temporarily suspended services.
– Delays are expected for both shipments already in transit and upcoming departures.
– Vessel rerouting and operational adjustments are impacting schedule reliability. Secondary effects may be seen on adjacent trade lanes, particularly Asia–Europe services.
– Carriers are introducing additional surcharges like (ECS) Emergency Conflict Surcharge or (WRS) War Risk Surcharges and other security-related fees on affected routes and possible additional routings between Far East and Europe.

Our Commitment

We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to keep you informed as developments unfold. Our priority is to ensure transparency, continuity, and timely communication so you can plan with confidence.

If you have any questions or require support regarding specific shipments, please contact your BTS Logistics contact.
