Please be advised that port operations in Antwerp, Zeebrugge, and Ghent remain heavily impacted due to the ongoing strike by Belgian maritime pilots.
The work stoppage has halted pilotage services, preventing vessels from entering or leaving the ports and causing severe congestion at sea and along the Belgian coast. Despite continued discussions, no agreement has been reached between unions and authorities.
We are actively monitoring developments in Belgium and will keep you informed as updates become available.
Tuesday, 14 October 2025 – General Strike Day
Please be advised that on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, the Belgian trade unions have announced a nationwide day of industrial action, following similar strikes in April, May, and June of this year.
It is expected that port operations will again be disrupted, with a high risk of halted vessel movements from Monday evening, October 13, around 19:00, until Wednesday morning, 15 October, at 08:00.
Unions are actively encouraging their members to participate, and certain political parties are also distributing flyers and leaflets urging workers to stop work on the day of the strike. We recommend planning accordingly for potential delays and operational constraints during this period.
