Good news for the transport industry – the end of the corona crisis is in sight!

The corona crisis will still leave a clear mark in the coming months as logistics chains are still disrupted, but for the transport sector the end of the corona crisis is finally in sight.

World trade declined in 2020. Industry, trade and transport partly came to a standstill due to the lockdowns in China and Europe. From the summer onwards, trade recovered due to industrial production and the second lockdown only damaged the transport sector to a limited extent. Currently, macroeconomic conditions are still difficult, but this is very likely to change as people are getting vaccinated now on a large scale.

The Dutch economy is expected to grow by 2.1% in 2021 thanks to more exports, government spending and private investments. In 2022, the expectation is that the restrictions related to the corona virus will be completely phased out. Then growth will pick up further and the transport sector will profit from these developments!
