Important Notice: Potential Strike Impacting East and Gulf Coast Ports on October 1st
We would like to inform you of a potential disruption in transport and logistics that may affect shipments. The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), representing dockworkers on the East and Gulf Coasts, is preparing for a possible strike beginning on October 1st. The union’s contract is set to expire on September 30th, and no new agreement has been reached.
If a strike occurs:
– Cargo already at the ports will remain stationary until the dispute is resolved.
– Ships en route may be redirected to alternative ports, such as those in Canada, or returned to their origin.
– Additional costs related to rerouting or delays will be charged to importers by the shipping lines.
Many shippers are currently considering West Coast alternatives to avoid potential disruptions. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions regarding your shipments.
We are closely monitoring the situation and will keep you updated as we receive more information.
